Digital Signage roll-out for OK’s nationwide rebranding
One hard deadline.
A nationwide switchover. And the right content on screen at exactly the right moment. For the rebranding to OK, Skippify handled the technical preparation and digital switchover of more than 100 gas stations. An operation in which technology, content, and planning had to align precisely.
From preparation to execution
With the acquisition of the Dutch BP gas stations, OK is growing into one of the largest players in the Dutch gas station market. Approximately 300 former BP stations are being converted to the OK format.
The digital in-store communication also had to be updated. In the weeks leading up to the rebranding, Skippify’s installation teams visited the locations involved to check the existing Digital Signage systems, upgrade them where needed, and prepare them for the new OK content.
Smart preparation, independent of the network
A key technical challenge was that the rebranding coincided with changes to the local IT networks. To keep the switchover from depending on them, the new content was loaded onto the signage players in advance and stored locally. This allowed the screens to switch over automatically at the agreed time, even if the network migration had not yet been completed.
This approach made it possible to carry out different activities in parallel, without disrupting day-to-day operations at the locations.
Live at exactly the right moment
Timing was critical. The existing communications had to remain visible through September 21. From September 22 onward, the screens had to show the new OK messaging.
Our content studio handled the preparation, scheduling, and distribution of the new content. Thanks to close coordination with the installation teams, the switchover happened automatically, without any manual action on site.
Central coordination makes the difference
This nationwide rollout shows that successful Digital Signage is about more than working screens. It requires a combination of reliable technology, central content management, and tightly organized execution.
For Skippify, this project is a great example of how we help multi-location organizations centrally manage and simultaneously update their digital communication.

Frequently asked questions
How do you switch over Digital Signage at more than 100 locations at once?
By organizing technology, content, and planning centrally in advance. In this rollout, the new content was loaded onto the signage players and scheduled ahead of time. As a result, more than 100 locations could switch over automatically at the agreed time, without on-site staff having to take any action themselves.
Does Digital Signage keep working during an IT or network migration?
It can, as long as the required content is stored locally on the signage player in advance. In the OK rollout, this approach made the switchover less dependent on the simultaneous changes to the local IT networks. As a result, the right content was already in place the moment it was needed.
What matters in a large-scale Digital Signage rollout?
Not just the technology, but above all the coordination between installation, configuration, content production, distribution, and planning. In a network with dozens or hundreds of locations, all of these components have to fit together. Central management and thorough preparation make it possible to carry out such a rollout in a controlled and scalable way.
